The 69-years-young bluesy/soul singer/songwriter, Robert Finley, has released his second single, “Sneakin’ Around,” from his highly anticipated fourth studio album, Black Bayou, via Dan Auerbach‘s Easy Eye Sound label.
Finley is at his finest on “Sneakin’ Around” as he dazzles and shines as he sings of deceit by his significant other, layered with a vibey groove, bluesy guitar, and harmonica. Finley‘s vocals are raw and emotional and the storytelling is immaculate. This is a track you can groove to!
Finley‘s upcoming fourth studio album, Black Bayou, was recorded with the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound, in Nashville. This is the fourth time the pair has worked together in the studio; however, they did things a little bit differently this time around. Instead, of writing the songs beforehand, they wrote IN the studio, and Auerbach brought in some of best musicians in the industry: drummers Patrick Carney (The Black Keys) and Jeffrey Clemens (G. Love & Special Sauce), bassist Eric Deaton, and legendary Hill Country blues guitarist, Kenny Brown. Auerbach also brought in vocalists Christy Johnson and LaQuindrelyn McMahon – who happen to be Finley‘s daughter and granddaughter, respectively.
“It’s amazing to realize how much of an impact Louisiana has had on the world’s music,” says Dan Auerbach, “and Robert embodies all of that. He can play a blues song. He can play early rock and roll. He can play gospel. He can do anything, and a lot of that has to do with where he’s from.”
